With new district leadership and various challenges facing our
school district, the Western Board of Education will engage
community members in a comprehensive study to help plan for the
decade ahead.
Phase I of the planning effort will involve a small
group of area leaders who will comprise the “Western Vision”, a
short-term think tank whose members will be charged with providing
visionary challenges to the various committees that will
subsequently form the district strategic planning team.
Phase II of strategic planning will consist of
recruiting community members who offer a broad representation of our
school constituency. These individuals will be assigned to strategic
planning committees based upon their background and areas of
interest.
Phase III will involve the actual meetings that will be
held for each committee. The various committees will be charged with
the following responsibilities:
1. Gather all data necessary for good decision-making
2. Formulate recommendations in the focus area of their
committee
3. Present the committee findings/recommendations to the
strategic planning steering committee
4. Adjust or reformulate recommendations as appropriate
5. Present the recommendations to the steering committee for
final approval
Phase IV will involve the official presentation of
committee findings/recommendations by each
committee to
the Western School District Board of Education to consider for
adoption
HOW CAN I HELP?
