Bus Vandalism Bus Vandalism Sanctions Strengthened H. B. 4155 (bus vandalism) was signed by Governor John Engler in April 1995. P. A. 13 (H. B. 4155) establishes a five year prison term and a fine of up to $5,000 for creating a health or safety hazard by damaging a bus. Previously such conduct was punishable as malicious destruction, carrying a prison term of up to four years and a fine of up to $2,000. In addition, it is the policy of Western School District to allow use of video taping equipment in school vehicles and on school property as a means to monitor and maintain a safe environment for students, employees and visitors. The contents of video tapes may be used as evidence in disciplinary hearings or other proceedings as might be required by law. |
