Andy
Owen graduated from Saline High School (2000) and Spring Arbor
University (2004) with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies and a minor
in Communication. He joined the professional staff at Western in
November of 2005.
During his years at SAU, Andy spent most of his time in the video
department and working on the student-run cable show Epic. Andy's
involvement with Epic included filling the roles of chief editor,
director, and occasionally host of the show. Epic won three first
place Nation Religious Broadcaster (NRB) Awards for shows where Andy
was responsible as chief editor and/or director. Andy also won first
place awards for two public service announcements he produced as a
student in the Communication department.
While involved in the video department, Andy produced two videos for
Youth With A Mission (YWAM), one for Barbados and one for the
Dominican Republic. These videos involved trips to the Caribbean with
a small student/professor video team.
Before joining the staff at Western School District Andy had two other
work experiences. First as Media Director at New Covenant Ministries
in Clio, Michigan, where he was in charge of all print and on-screen
media, as well as a volunteer video production team of 7-10 people.
Later, when he and his wife decided to move to her home area near
Lansing, Andy got a job at Such Media in Okemos as a Multimedia
Programmer where he was in charge of creating Interactive CD-ROM's,
authored DVDs, and Motion Graphic presentations as well as duplicating
from any video format to any other video format. Finding that
commercial media was not in line with his passion for video work, Andy
sought another position, eventually landing at Western. |
