The regular meeting of the Western School District Board of Education was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Library of Warner Elementary School, opening with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Members Absent:      None.

Reports:
·         Celebration of Excellence recognitions:         MIEM 2007 Crystal Award Recipient, Virginia Atkins;    “Autism Spectrum Disorders” Presenters, Mary Chamberlin and Danielle Clawson; Boys Varsity State Qualifying Tennis Team; Tennis Coach of the Year, Larry Brown; MHSAA 2007 Good Sports Award Winners, Scott Oliver - Baseball and Tonya Bassett - Softball.
·         Reviewed recommended revisions to the district’s current Family Medical Leave Policy.
·         Received an update on the development of high school honors classes and student placement as a result of forums held earlier in the year.

Actions:
·         Approved the minutes for the Regular Meeting of November 8 and the Board Retreat of November 29.
·         Accepted the financial report and payment of bills for the month of November in the amount of $834,431.58.
·         Approved the Personnel Report:  retirement – Career Prep Coordinator Carol Mohlenhoff; appointment - high school special education teacher Janna Klassen; appointment – custodian Steve McMurtrie.
·         Approved an amended General Fund budget for 2007-2008.
·         Approved the permanent expulsion of a high school student.
·         Approved a 1.5% retroactive raise for all non-administrative unrepresented employees for the 2007-2008 school year.
