As local school districts deal with the real prospect of having their
state funding cut by $122 per pupil due to budget shortfalls, State
Superintendent of Public Instruction Mike Flanagan shares a serious
message on what our communities will face if the state Legislature does
not act by June 1 to find a funding solution.

Over 450 Middle School and 400 High School
students were honored at the Academic Celebration held on April 22, 2007
and $6500.00 in scholarships were awarded.

Western Middle School inducted 41 seventh grade students into the National Junior Honor Society on Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Governor’s Council Recognizes Western
for Physical Education Excellence
The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health & Sports, along with the Michigan Fitness Foundation, presented its highest Exemplary Physical Education Award - Level 8 - to the Western School District on November 9, 2006, at its annual dinner in Kalamazoo.
