Bean
Elementary Student Support Services While all our students are special, we do take justifiable pride in meeting identified needs. The following staff and services are available: * Library - Media * Speech * Physical and Occupational Therapy * Social Workers * School Psychologist * Reading and Math Remediation - Title I Instructional Support * Learning Disabilities * Cognitively Impaired * Emotionally Impaired * Team Meetings * Computer Lab Instruction * Class Size Reduction Program * Literacy Coach Student Activities Students are given many opportunities to be involved in enrichment activities. A few of the offerings available to interested students include:
* Student Council * Video Production Studio * Fourth and Fifth Grade Basketball * Wrestling * Mileage Club * Family Nights, Holiday Night, and Roller-skating * Special Olympics * Spelling Bee and Geography Bee * Multimedia Club and Video Club * Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts * Interfaith Shelter Community Service * Bean Chess Club * Drama Club * Multimedia Club School Improvement Plan Bean Elementary School’s staff has established long range school improvement goals that will enhance the pursuit of student success.
* Students will improve expository writing skills across the curriculum. * All students will demonstrate an improvement in their social studies knowledge. * All students will demonstrate improvement in their scientific knowledge.
Parents and community members will have an
opportunity to participate in the school improvement process during
2006-2007. Bean Elementary is a NCA K-5 neighborhood school located in the Spring Arbor area. In addition to our regular classrooms, we also have a Cognitively Impaired classroom. There are three hundred ninety students who attend Bean; served by thirty-nine staff members. We service the entire spectrum of abilities and needs in a caring and proficient manner as is reflected in testing results. Children enjoy learning at Bean as is demonstrated by our 98% daily attendance rate. Bean Elementary provides a complete standardized testing program to support and evaluate student learning and instruction. |
