Math
Home Links daily unless written otherwise in your child’s
planner. We are on our second unit of multiplication and division.
Please work with your child to help them memorize their facts from
0-10. We have begun our timed multiplication tests. Mrs. Phillips
comes in twice a week to test the class for 3 minute timed tests.
Look for certificates that show your child has moved to the next
level. Children should continue to practice basic addition and
subtraction facts using their fact triangles, counting money, and
telling time. All year we will continue to work on elapsed time
by using our sunrise/sunset chart.

Social
Studies
We are finishing
up learning about how communities change yet stay the same. We will
soon begin learning about people working together.
 |
|
Science
We are
studying and experimenting about Solids, Liquids, and Gases. We are
learning about their properties and how they can change their states
of matter.

Reading and Writing
Children should
be reading 15 minutes daily at home. D.O.L.(Daily Oral Language) is
done each morning. We correct 1 sentence each day. The sentence
sheet comes home on Friday to study and then we take a sentence test
over the exact paper on Monday. AR(Accelerated Reader) are books
with red tape on the binding. The tests are on the computers at
school. One or more tests should be taken each week. The book can
be read at home or at school. Look for the AR sheet that shows if
your child passed. We have finished our “What’s Cooking” theme and
have begun our “Weather Watch” theme.
