Math
We have slowed
ourselves a bit due to MEAP (yippee) so homework will resume very
soon. Keep an eye open for homelink papers.
Our class is beginning Unit 2. This unit has an emphasis on using
addition in a number of different life applications. We also will be
tackling the imfamous "Story Problems!" (A parent favorite I know!)

Social Studies
Our emphasis
is now on why communities begin where they do. We will also talk
about resources, man-made vs. natural features, uses of water
resources, etc.

Language Arts
We have
working with Nouns and Verbs. This is to lay the ground work for
writing complete sentences. I will be emphasizing a lot of writing
in class this year due to the importance of good communication
skills. I hope to see a vast improvement this year in writing from
my students and encourage you to work at home on handwriting and
sentence structure.

Class News
We will be having a
class Halloween Party on Monday, Oct. 31 at 2:00. I would like to
have a mom or dad take charge of organizing a "SIMPLE" party with
healthy foods and maybe a couple of games for the kids. If you are
interested in being room mom or dad for this party please e-mail or
call.
