Reminders:
Computer Lab:
We visit the computer lab on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Library: We visit the library every Thursday. Remember your library
books on Thursdays!
Sensory: Every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday the children will
participate in various activities to develop eye-hand coordination,
fine motor control, and tolerance for various tactile materials (ex.
shaving cream, paint, sand). These activities include art projects,
cooking, and play at the sensory table, which may be filled with
sand, water, rice, beans, corn, sunflower seeds, etc.
Gym: Our class will be visiting the gym every Wednesday and Friday for
extra gym time. This will help the children develop coordination
using the large muscles of their body and coordination in using both
sides of their body together.
Show and
Tell:
Please help your child
read the Show and Tell calendar to see which days are their days to
bring something in to share with the class. I will be sending home
new calendars at the end of each month. Through interactive writing,
the children are creating wonderful stories about their show and
tell. |
Snack:
We have snack time in the morning. Please send a snack for your
child every day.
Reading and Writing:
The instruction provided to children in these areas will be
based on their individual levels and needs. Phonics skills will be
presented through multisensory strategies that teach to all learning
styles- visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic. Materials will
be delivered through direct instruction. Handwriting skills will be
reinforced through multisensory lessons from the Handwriting Without
Tears curriculum. The children will learn about writing by
participating in interactive and shared writing as well as
independent writing.
Math:
Children will develop math skills at their own levels. Skill and
concept areas they will work on include numeration, basic facts,
operations, patterns, money, and time. The children will be exposed
to a variety of math games and computer programs that reinforce
these skills and concepts.
