Uniform Policy

1.     All band members will be supplied a marching uniform and a concert uniform when the uniform deposit has been received by the band department.

The marching uniform will consist of a marching coat, marching trousers, and hat. Students will be expected to provide black socks, black marching shoes (from Francis Enterprises) and white gloves.  Tubas and percussionists will also buy maroon berets.  Color guard members will have a maroon coat and pants, and need to provide shoes (from Francis Enterprises), black bodysuit, and stockings.

The concert uniform for ladies is a concert dress provided by the school.  Ladies will need to have black stockings and dress shoes.  The concert attire for men is a tux coat, tux pants, and cummerbund and bowtie.  Men will need to purchase a formal white shirt with black buttons and black dress socks.  It is acceptable for male students to wear their black marching shoes for concert season, provided they are in good condition.

There is a uniform deposit required before any school uniform is issued to a student.  The deposit is returned at the end of the school year if the uniforms are dry-cleaned and in good condition. If the uniforms are not dry-cleaned or not in good condition (wrinkled, stained, not hung up), the deposit will be forfeited for the school year, and additional charges may be required if an item is in need of replacement in the school inventory.

The student will be issued the proper uniform parts and will sign a contract with a teacher aide confirming the parts issued.  A white copy will remain in the band office, and a yellow copy will be given to the student as a receipt.

2. Students not dressed properly for a performance will not be permitted to perform, resulting in an unexcused absence.  There will be graded inspections prior to every marching and concert band performance.  Students are expected to stay in full uniform on all field trips and school-sponsored activities.  Students are responsible for taking their uniforms home after a performance.  Students will be marked down for leaving any uniform or part of a uniform at school.
