This past Monday we held
our first Camp Discovery at the Western Nature Center.
Eight ENTHUSIASTIC third through fifth graders hiked the woods with us, found
macro-
and microorganisms in the leaf litter, pond, and stream, and constructed pine
cone
bird feeders. Although we didn't have our minimum number of pre-registrants to
go
with the planned four-day camp, Tovah Sheldon, Lisa Wollet, and I decided that
we
wanted them to have at least a one day experience. It was a blast for us
teachers and a
definite do-over for the kids. Their strongest feedback was the desire to have
it run four
days next year!
