Basic Art – 18 Weeks 9-12
This course introduces students to art and crafts. Students will learn
art appreciation through a variety of techniques; including drawing,
painting, basic printmaking, sculpture and weaving within the study of
the elements of design. Students will also learn the skill of selling
their art as a trade. Students may wish to supply specific materials
for projects. This class is a prerequisite for 2-D Design. May be
repeated for credit by instructor approval.

2 Dimensional Design – 18 Weeks 9-12
Prerequisite: Basic Art or MS Teacher Recommendation
This course will focus on basic and advanced drawing and painting
techniques. Students will learn basic layout and design principals in
a variety of media. Students will paint in watercolor, acrylic, oil
using a variety of techniques and styles. This class is a prerequisite
for 3-D Design. May be repeated for credit by instructor approval.

3 Dimensional Design
– 18 Weeks 9-12
Prerequisite: 2-D Design
This course focuses on the technical aspects of sculpture and
ceramics. Students will have the opportunity to create sculpture
though a variety of media and learn the various processes of sculpting
clay through glazing and firing while exploring historical and
cultural significance. May be repeated for credit by instructor
approval. Some projects may require a fee or additional supplies not
provided in class.

Advanced Art – 18 or 36 Weeks 11-12 Prerequisite:
Instructor Approval Only
This course is designed specifically for the serious art student who
needs to produce advanced art projects. Portfolio and applications for
college and scholarships will be explored and developed. This program
will be designed to fit the specific needs of each student. Schedule
permitting, students should sign up for the class period before Art
Seminar to create a two-hour studio block. Some projects may require a
fee or additional supplies not provided in class.
AP Portfolios are produced in one of the following areas; drawing, 2-D
or 3-D. Portfolios will be submitted to the AP College Board in May.

Basic Digital Arts
– 18 Weeks 10-12 Prerequisite: Computer Tech I (successful completion)
This course introduces students to in-depth techniques in digital
media. Students will learn elements and principles of design through
the use of digital photography, computer illustration, and photo
manipulation using Photo Shop. Students will apply these techniques to
web design projects. May be repeated for credit by instructor
approval.
