Money/Valuables

Money, valuables, and medications should never be left in lockers, purses, or wallets.  Such items should be checked in the office if it is necessary to bring them to school.  The school cannot be responsible for the loss of such items left in lockers or elsewhere.  We highly recommend that all personal property be labeled and the serial numbers be recorded at home.

Fire and Tornado Drills

Before the season’s first fire drill, a red 8 ½” x 11” card stating the fire exit route from that room will be posted near the door.  Alternate plans for exit will be designated so the students will know how to evacuate the building with as little confusion as possible.  Teachers will point out the instruction card for each classroom and explain the proper route procedures.

In accordance with state law, several fire drills will be held each year.  The following rules are to be observed:

·        Move quickly and orderly along the exit route of the classroom in which you are located.

·        Leave all books, pencils, jackets, etc. in the classroom.  DO NOT GO TO YOUR LOCKER.

·        Move at least 200 feet from the building after you exit.

·        Take all drills seriously as they may save your life in a real emergency.  Students are expected to cooperate with
their  immediate supervisor and follow directions without hesitation.

Tornado season each year finds numerous “Tornado Watch” conditions set.  The Western Board of Education has declared students will be kept at school with all precautions taken to insure their safety.  Exceptions to the policy will be made if parents wish to pick up their children.

Each room has Tornado Procedure sheets posted and teachers will familiarize their students with it.  Tornado drills will be scheduled yearly.

School Lunch Program

The school lunch program is maintained as a vital part of the total educational program of the school.  Students without a student ID card will wait until those with ID cards have purchased lunches.

1.             Students are expected to deposit their entire snack and lunch litter in wastebaskets.

2.             Students are expected to leave the table and floor area, around their seat, in a clean condition for

                others.

3.             Students are expected to stay in the cafeteria during lunch periods unless they have administration

permission to be elsewhere.

 4.            Any misconduct or inappropriate handling of food will result in the following:

a.) The person(s) involved assuming the responsibility for cleaning up the damage.

b.) Restriction of school lunch privileges.

c.) Suspension and/or a form of alternative discipline decided upon by the assistant principal or the principal.
