Choral Festival (Required)
One of the most
significant events of the year is the District Choral Festival. At this
event, the choir performs while a panel of judges makes constructive
comments. These comments, in addition to comments received while
sight-reading, result in a rating from “I” to “V”, “Excellent” to “Not at
the Standard”, respectively. Festival should be viewed as an educational
experience, a chance to work with professional musicians, and as a means
to evaluate the ensemble’s work. Choral Festival is considered an
extension of the class and attendance is required. MSVMA Honors Choir Program (Optional) The Honors Choir Program is designed to allow middle school students the opportunity to participate in a choral experience that involves students from around the state under the direction of an outstanding director. The Honors Choir will perform on January 26th, 2008 at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids. Auditions will be held October 20th. Solo and Ensemble Festival (Optional) Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival will be February 24th, 2007. This an excellent opportunity for performance experience, where students sing in front of an adjudicator for an evaluation of their performance. It is optional and there are fees involved. Please see Mrs. Hein for more information about Solo and Ensemble Festival. Your student will be required to attend 4 lunch rehearsals prior to performance. There is an accompanist fee of $30, which includes two rehearsals with your accompanist and your performance. Festival date is February 24th, 2007. |
