In Language class we are diving into our Oceans Theme. It is a fun theme where we explore informational articles about Oceans , Ocean life, and Oil spills in Oceans.

|
We do an oil spill water experiment where the students have to clean oil out of a pan of water using 4 different types of materials. They use cotton, string, nylon and paper. See attached photos of kids cleaning an oil spill. |
We also read an article about a boy named Joel Rubin and how he makes a difference for dolphins being caught and killed in nets. We will end our unit with a persuasive essay on Animal research vs. Advances in Medicine. Students will pick a side, research and create a persuasive essay. |
We have just finished studying about European Expansionism and are now looking at the French Revolution as well as the effects of the Industrial Revolution.
|
We are then going to study the world wars. We start with World War I, Move to World War II and then the Cold War. |
Our next project is called, Taste of Europe. Student partners create a booth that represents their European country. They also have a sample of the food one might taste there. It is a lot of fun. |
