Western Middle School is fully accredited by the North Central Association (NCA); one of only a handful of “true middle schools” in the State of Michigan to hold that distinction. Western Middle School met the standards for the State of Michigan in Essential Skills in Mathematics, and in addition, Western Middle School meets all of the standards for the State of Michigan Accreditation Project (MAP) except for MEAP scores in reading and mathematics. Western Middle School is one of only two school buildings that have ever achieved both NCA and MAP accreditation. School Improvement Plan Western Middle School began a new five-year school improvement plan in the fall of 2002 in the following areas:
* Writing across the curriculum as measured by the
Michigan Education Assessment * Science knowledge as measured by MEAP * Social studies knowledge as measured by MEAP and Assess to Learn
Western Middle School demonstrated incredible improvement during each five-year school improvement cycle and has been awarded perfect scores from the North Central Association in the past. |
